How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. Add your HEIC photos. Drop them on the box above, or pick them from your device. You can add up to 300 files in one batch, each up to 50 MB.
  2. Check that the Format is set to JPG and set the Quality if you want. WipePic has already chosen JPG for you on this page.
  3. Download the JPG files. One file is saved as it is, and several files are saved as a ZIP.

Why convert HEIC to JPG?

iPhones save photos as HEIC. Many websites, Windows apps, forms and older devices still want JPG, and this page makes the JPG for you.

What to know about this conversion

  • Chrome, Edge and Firefox cannot open HEIC. WipePic loads a HEIC decoder (libheif) into your browser the first time you add a HEIC photo, and then converts it on your device. The download of the decoder is shown as progress.
  • JPG does not store transparency. Transparent areas, if a photo has any, turn white.
  • The Quality slider goes from low to high and starts at 85. A higher value keeps more detail and makes a larger file.
  • The converted photo is turned upright using its Orientation tag, and the new file has the extension .jpg.
  • When the colors of a photo cannot be kept in the new file, WipePic converts them to sRGB and shows a note on the file.

Your photos stay on your device

The conversion runs in your browser. WipePic does not upload your photos, does not need an account and has no usage quota. Each converted file is also cleaned of its hidden metadata, so you can share it right away.

Questions

Why can I not open my iPhone photo on Windows or upload it to a website?

iPhones save photos in the HEIC format by default. Many websites and programs accept only JPG. Convert the HEIC photo to JPG here and the new file opens everywhere.

Does the HEIC to JPG conversion upload my photos?

No. The HEIC decoder runs inside your browser, and the JPG is made on your device. The photos never reach a server.

Will the JPG look worse than the HEIC?

JPG is a lossy format, so the pixels change a little. At the default quality of 85 the difference is hard to see. Use the Quality slider to trade size for detail.

Does the HEIC to JPG conversion remove metadata?

Yes. WipePic removes the hidden metadata, such as the GPS location, the camera model and the capture time, and then converts the picture. The new JPG file is cleaned once more, so it carries none of it.
